Luke 5:19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.
When you are faced with a problem, how do you go about solving it? Do you let it overwhelm you or do you flex your problem-solving muscles and figure out the best solution?
People who throw themselves at their problems often become frantic and confused. They take a haphazard approach to thinking, and then they are amazed when they find themselves floundering and making no progress.
An obstacle can only stop you if you allow it. Joseph dream was that he would be a ruler, but he had to deal with being thrown in a pit, and then sold into slavery before he was thrown in prison. All this he had to endure before he went to the palace. The men who wanted their paralyzed friend healed in St Luke 5 was hindered by the crowd, they did not sit around and talk about the obstacle, instead they found an alternate solution to get him in front of Jesus by cutting through the roof.
Whatever your pursuits, there will always be obstacles; and when you get past one, another is likely to present itself. There are two responses that you must avoid. Firstly, never let your obstacles get you to the place where you stop trying. If that is where you are today, start dreaming again. Secondly, do not let your obstacle cause you to get distracted from what you intend to accomplish. Keep focused on the task at hand. The best way to deal with obstacles is to do as the men did who helped their friend who was paralyzed. They were so determined to get their friend healed; they kept looking for workarounds until they found it.
Life Application: Keep looking for a work around by praying for wisdom specific to the obstacle and get a group of persons to help you brainstorm alternate solutions.
Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes I focus so much on the problems I am facing and often miss the solutions. Help me to find ways of working around the various challenges I have to face. Give me the wisdom to identify what these are and implement them. In Jesus name, amen.
