Genesis 28:13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
Before I got married the Lord told me who my husband was. I thought it would be smooth sailing thereafter. NOPE. The word was tested and MANY times I wondered if I heard correctly. Even the person he used to confirm the word started second guessing what she heard. I cried many days because I felt like God was humiliating me for pining over someone who seemed otherwise minded. I remembered one night I got an instruction to call someone whom I have never spoken to in a casual manner because I only knew him in a professional/formal manner. I timidly called and told him I was instructed to call him. After I shared what was happening, he revealed that he went through a similar experience and what kept him through the experience was KNOWING what God said to him even when everything in the natural showed otherwise. He never stopped believing. Through his faith he walked out the word and has been happily married now for over three decades. That was the conversation that I NEEDED and suffice it to say I am happily married now for close to two decades…well five years shy of two decades, but you get the picture.
Never stop believing. The dream will only remain alive if you keep faith alive. Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padanaram to take a wife from among Rebekah’s brother, Laban. While on his journey one night he had a dream in which he saw a ladder stretched towards the heavens and there were angels ascending and descending on it. And the Lord stood on top of the Ladder and declared to him that the land which he lay on, He would give to him and his seed. Effectively what God was doing was reminding Jacob to the same promise He made to Isaac, his father and Abraham, his grandfather. The purpose of this was to keep faith alive from one generation to the next. You must apply this principle by keeping faith alive from one day to the next. As you sojourn to your dream or promise land, the disappointments of life can easily cause your faith to dwindle and ultimately die. The way to counteract that is to choose what you hear: faith cometh by hearing. Do that by rehearsing in your own ears the promise or dream daily.
Life Application: Repeat to yourself the promise or dream 2 to 3 times daily.
Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes it is hard to keep faith alive when everything is going contrary to your word. Increase my faith in you and allow me to see things through your perspective. In Jesus name, amen.
