Proverbs 24:5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
While I was in college I tried for my first two years to become the long distance champion but my best place finish in any race was second. So at the start of my final year of undergrad I decided it was the year to win. At the core of my strategy was strength training. I built stronger abdominals and upper body strength through 3 times more abdominal exercises and push-ups. And I added to that leg strengthening through running hills several times a week. With the increased strength, the goal was finally accomplished. I became the champion.
In the race of life, strength of a different kind is what is needed to win. It is called wisdom; your strength is proportionate to the level of your wisdom. It is therefore important that you give focus to growing strength by deliberately adding to your knowledge and understanding daily.
Life Application: Set aside at least 15 minutes daily adding to your wisdom by reading books or listening to audiobooks that increase your knowledge and understanding.
Prayer: Dear Lord, increase my appetite for wisdom. Help me to increase my strength by getting wisdom. Increase my understanding of your word so that I may increase my wisdom. In Jesus name, amen.
