Gen 12:6 – And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
Don’t let your small beginnings determine your destination. Take note that in Genesis 12 that the first place that Abraham lodged when he reached the land of Canaan was Shechem. The name Shechem means back, shoulder or hinder part. It identifies with where Abraham was when he reached Canaan, he was a nobody, unknown and had very little. However, that never stopped him from having a big dream. His dream was defined by the 7 promises that God declared concerning him, part of which was that he would be a great nation and his name would be great.
Conrad Hilton exemplified what it meant to have a big dream. His dream was to run a family hotel. Following a financial crisis in 1907, the dream started with humble beginnings when his parents started to rent rooms in their house to those visiting their area. Years later the dream really started to take shape when he used his savings and a bank loan to buy a small 40 room hotel. Now today it is evident that the dream became a reality as Hilton Hotels is a renowned brand all across the world.
It is one thing to dream big, but to get to the dream you must see the dream becoming a reality. Pastor David Yonggi Cho runs a church now with 1 million members in South Korea, but when he started the church no one was there. So he would preach with his eyes closed, visualizing that the church was full. Ultimately that is what happened. If you keep seeing your current reality, it will dishearten you from pursuing the dream. Train your mind to see the future you want by putting up pictures in your environment of the desired outcome. Ultimately your mind will start believing that reality and with belief comes action that will gradually take you towards the goal.
Life Application: Put up tangible pictures in your environment of the future you want to see and visualize and take action towards it daily.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you have placed big dreams in my heart that go beyond finances and fame. I present those dreams to you right now and declare that you will guide me into these dreams as long as they are a part of your purpose for my life. I commit everything to you right now and declare that it is done in Jesus name, amen.
