Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
When you are asked the question, “Who are you?”, how do you respond? When you think of yourself, how do you view yourself? These are important questions that as individuals we must answer.
You have greatness locked up in you. What becomes of it, will depend on the choices that you make.
Man is the only part of creation that God blew a piece of himself into. The implication of this is that there is greatness locked up inside of you. It should be refreshing for you to know that you were not created to be ordinary or mediocre, but rather you were created to be great.
When the Angel visited Gideon at the winepress he addressed him as a mighty man of valour, which means mighty warrior. The angel was not telling him anything new; his name Gideon means warrior; the problem is that he never saw himself as such. He saw himself as everybody else (ordinary) and so he was by the winepress hiding. According to Dr. Mike Murdock, “You cannot operate beyond the level that you see yourself”. .
The encounter Gideon had with the angel was transformative, because for the first time he started to see himself great. When he started to see himself as great, he started to act great. He tore down the image of Baal and led 300 men with God’s direction to destroy a large army of Midianites. Unleash the greatness in you by choosing to see yourself as the person God created you to be.
Life Application: Start seeing yourself and acting as the word of God has said you are.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to see myself through your eyes instead of what the world, others, or my negative thoughts dictate. Help me to know that I am great, powerful, set apart and a carrier of your presence. Hold up your word as a mirror as I search it to find who I am in you. In Jesus name, amen.
