Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
You were created to be great. How do we know that? Man is the only part of creation that God blew a piece of himself into. Because God is great and He blew a piece of himself into you, it only stands to reason that greatness is in you. Now is the time for it to be unleashed.
Gideon was a great warrior, but acted the very opposite of the person he was. In Judges 6 he found himself in the winepress hiding. What happened here was that he initially allowed the difficult circumstances that he and the people of Israel faced to define who he was. It is easy to fall into that trap. Your greatness will remain hidden as long as you define yourself by your current circumstances. God had to send an angel to remind Gideon of who He made him to be.
The angel reminded Gideon of who he was by saluting him as “mighty man of valour” which means mighty warrior. Bear in mind that the angel was not telling Gideon anything that he did not already know. His name Gideon actually means warrior. Nevertheless, it took that reminder for him to adopt God’s perspective of who he was. The second thing that the angel mentioned that helped to transform his thinking was that the “Lord was with him”. Prior to that he was looking at his limitations, with the knowledge that God was with him, he now recognized that what he previously saw as impossible is actually possible. Thereafter, he left that conversation with the angel and unleashed his greatness: he became known for using 300 men as God had instructed him to defeat a vast Midianites army. What is the great thing that you are looking to do?
Gideon unleashed his greatness, and you can too by adopting God’s perspective of who you are, knowing that he is with you, once you are walking in his will, and then following his instructions.
Life Applications: Unleash your greatness by knowing that God is with you, living out what his word says concerning you by following his instructions.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to see myself through your eyes. Help me to see the greatness that I have within me and walk accordingly. I declare that I am what you say I am. In Jesus name, amen.
