See the Future That God Has For You

Daily Devotional

Genesis 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.

Your vision of your future will determine the future you see. Hebrews 11:1 denotes two (2) characteristics of faith. The first was expecting the substance or manifestation of things hoped for. Practically, that requires you to choose to live everyday with an expectation of the future God has for you. God taught Abraham how to do this in Genesis 13:14 by giving him two (2) instructions. The first instruction was to “lift up his eyes”, what God was really saying to Abraham was to stop seeing his current reality. If all that you can see is your current reality that is all you will receive. The future God had for Abraham was great abundance but he could not receive it if what he saw was limited to his current reality or vision.

The second part of the instruction given to Abraham was to look eastward, westward, southward and northward and as far as he could see he would receive. In the first instruction, God was telling Abraham to stop seeing his current reality and in the second instruction God was giving him a picture of the future that He had for him  to see instead. As you might recall, Abraham chose to see the future that God had for him and his seed reaped the promise that God had declared concerning him.

Your future is determined by what you choose to see. Choose to see the future that God has for you.

Life Application: Replace the current reality that you now see by putting up pictures in your environment of the promise that God has declared concerning you and choose to see that as your reality.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I choose to see my life, my past, present and future through your eyes. Like Abraham, open my spiritual eyes to the things around me and help me to walk in that which you have declared concerning my life. I choose to walk by faith in Jesus’ name, amen.
