Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

With reference to Psalms 61, thirst is not the only reason why a deer runs to the water. It also pants for water when it is being chased by a hunting animal. It runs to the water because it knows that when it immerses itself into water, it loses its scent and its steps are not easily traceable. The water represents the presence of God, when we are immersed in it; we lose our scent and therefore become a much more difficult target for the enemy.

It is with this in mind why the scripture says in Psalms 91, they that dwell in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadows of the almighty. The secret place represents the presence of God. The scripture emphasizes therefore that they that make His presence their dwelling place shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. When you stand in someone’s shadow, you remain hidden as long as you do. Dwelling in the presence of God, keeps you out of the sight of the enemy. In that case you are better positioned for victory, for while the enemy has a hard time seeing you, the vantage point that you occupy allows you to track his moves.

Do not stay in a place to make you an easy target for the enemy, take the decision to relocate to the secret place.

Life Application: Make it your goal every day to live in His presence.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you are my refuge, fortress and my hiding place. I pray for your covering and your shelter. Help me to dwell in the secret place where you reside. Cover me under your blood and keep your hands upon me where no evil cannot harm me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
