Go Back to the Old Landmark

Keep to the ancient Landmarks (Success Paths), it’s a faith Booster for your Series of Victories.

Daily Devotional

2 Chronicles 34:33 Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the Lord their God. And all his days they departed not from following the Lord, the God of their fathers.

New approaches are welcomed; but what purpose do they serve if they do not lead to greater levels of success? Across different sectors of society there is an adoption of new approaches that in the end results in those they are meant to serve being worse off than better off. It is time now to go back to the old landmark. The old landmark is the principles and laws of God that have proven to work.

The Children of Israel on several occasions throughout their history chose to deviate from the old landmark. The scripture said in Judges 2:10-11 that after the death of Joshua and the elders, there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which He had done for Israel. As a result, they did evil in the sight of the Lord and worshiped idols. The scripture here cites the main reason for deviation from the old landmark, is not knowing God. To get back to the old landmark you must start by repositioning yourself to deeper knowledge of who God is and what His principles and laws say.

The deeper knowledge of God will not come simply because you say you are going to do it, but rather by you actively seeking God.  That was demonstrated in the life of Josiah in 2 Chronicles 34. He became King at the age of 8 and started seeking God when he was 16 and out of that he started to purge the land of iniquity and repaired the temple. While the temple was being repaired they found back the book of laws of God, which is the old landmark. That is when the real revolution started. He made a personal commitment to do all that was written in the laws of God and had the people commit to do the same. He went further and removed all abominations out of the land of Israel and mandated the priests to teach the people the laws of God and restored the right order of worship.

It took Josiah and the people of Israel going back to the old landmark to see transformation in their lives. What is it that you want to see change? You may have tried new approaches that have failed, but throughout all ages, the only thing that has proven to work is what the word of God says – the old landmark. Go back to doing it the way his word says.

Life Application: Pursue God with a view of doing all that you do the way His word says.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to do everything according to your word. Help me to not deviate from the things that work according to your instructions. Help me to do things YOUR way. In Jesus name, amen.
