Job 29:15-16  I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

“What you make happen for others God will make happen for you.”Dr. Mike Murdock. Creating solutions to other people’s  problems opens you up to receiving solutions to yours.

During the time of his turmoil, Job recounted the days of his life when he acted as a problem solver in his environment. He was vivid in his description, he said  “I was eyes to the blind, and feet was to the lame. I was a father to the poor.” One cannot help but notice that Job’s response to those that are in need was to create the solution that they really needed. The blind needed sight so he became their eyes. The lame could not move around so he became their feet. The poor needed a provider so he acted as their father. What was described would make most of us seem like we are not even trying.

Very often our approach to those in need is halfhearted, but to the contrary, Job went all out. Imagine the sacrifices he made and the time he had to invest because he never just pursued solutions for problems that were easy, he also searched out solutions for issues that were difficult. That is what was meant by the latter part of verse 16 that said “and the cause which I knew not I searched out.”

Because Job operated in this way, he experienced something amazing that he stated in Job 29:12;13 he said this  “because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me.” What Job was saying was that because he gave abundantly to the poor the blessing of abundance came upon him. Job’s great wealth came because he became the solution to someone that was in need. The way in which he blessed others, God blessed him.

In a world that is very focused on “I’ and “me”, operating like Job seems far-fetched and incomprehensible, but never argue with something that works.  it worked for Job, and there is no reason why it would not work for you. Give attention to creating solutions for those that are in need in your environment.

Life Application: Starting with the next 7 to 10 days , form a new habit of sowing time, resources and relationships to create solutions for people who are in need in your environment.

Prayer: Lord it is so easy to become insular in my view. Please remove this selfish way of viewing life and help me to see those who are in need around. Let me not only see, but provide solutions to their problems as long as I am able to do so. In Jesus name, amen.
