Luke 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

Change is proportional to knowledge. Transform your life by Identifying someone who has done what you want to do and sit at his/her feet to learn wisdom.

Luke’s account of the life of Mary Magdalene suggests that she had an unpleasant past. First, she was characterized as a sinner in Luke 7:37. Further to that we were told in Luke 8:2 that 7 devils were cast out of her.  It is noteworthy that despite her less than flattering past, Mary Magdalene rose to become one of the greatest women of the Bible: reminding us that it is not how you start, but rather how you choose to finish.

Mary Magdalene finished well. She is remembered in scriptures as the woman who used the ointment in the alabaster box and wiped the feet of Jesus, 6 days before His death. She was also the first to learn of  the resurrection of Jesus and spread the good news to His disciples. The question that we all would want answered is what accounted for this transformation in the life of Mary Magdalene? The only clue that the scripture gave can be drawn from St Luke 10:39 where it was reported that she sat at the feet of Jesus to hear his words.  That was significant. Sitting at the feet of someone is a mark of respect and honour. It is a recognition that there is something that you can learn from that person that could change your life. Mary Magdalene needed a change and there was no better person for her to learn wisdom from than the master. So she sat at the feet of Jesus for the duration of His visit and refused to allow herself to be distracted.

The major lesson that you can learn from the life of Mary Magdalene’s approach is to create change. Her strategy was to identify someone with wisdom and carefully listen to their words to learn wisdom. It was no different from what the 12 disciples did.

Life Application; identify the best in your field and invest time listening to their words to learn wisdom.

Prayer: Lord, help me to identify those who can pour wisdom into my life. You have placed strategic persons who can help me to grow and soar. Help me to identify them and sit at their feet of wisdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
