1 Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
Every journey to the top starts with a fresh vision. You cannot keep seeing things the same way and move from where you are. What you are seeing is what you will become.
Throughout the scriptures when God wanted to change the trajectory of the life of biblical characters He always starts by giving them a fresh vision. Abraham’s life changed when he saw 7 fold blessings that would be his if he followed the instruction to leave Haran. Moses’ wilderness situation changed the moment he got the vision that he would be used to be the deliverer of the children of Israel out of Egypt. Your turnaround requires a fresh vision.
There was no mention of David in the scriptures until God gave him a vision that he would be the next King in 1 Samuel 16; thereafter his life story became the dominant theme of the Bible until his death. Two (2) significant things happened when David had a fresh vision of his future. Firstly, the circumstances of his life started to line up with his kingly anointing. Not only did he become a household name in Israel after he defeated Goliath, he was also given a seat at the Kings table, allowing him to learn first-hand the operations of the Kingdom.
The second thing that happened after David’s fresh vision was that others started to see him and refer to him as the next King. Both Jonathan and Saul referred to him as the next King. The four hundred men that went into the wilderness to attach themselves to David did so because they saw him as the next King. Initially, there will be doubters but as you walk out your vision, it is only a matter of time that those around you will see what you see.
To change your past you need a new vision for the future. While it is okay to create your own vision, if God has given you vision of your future, work with that vision.
Life Application: Change your vision of the future to reflect God’s vision.
Prayer: Lord, you have shared the vision you have for my life countless times. I declare that I will walk in that vision that you have for my life even when it seems impossible or too tough. I trust you and know that your love for me is immeasurable. In Jesus name, amen
