Genesis 26:22 And he removed from thence, and dug another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
A failure to overcome obstacles is the number one reason people fail. The key then to succeed is to refuse to give up and take on the attitude of exhausting all options.
Genesis 26 tells us the story of Isaac, while he was in the midst of a famine he decided to dig the wells that his father Abraham had previously dug. When he dug the first well, he faced an obstacle, the Philistine herdsmen fought with his servants over the well. It did not go well for him, but he did not just give up; instead he pursued other options. He and his men looked for other wells to dig. When they dug the second well, the result was no different. They had to confront the same obstacle as before and their response was the same each time: they kept looking for new options. Their goal was to get to water and they were going to keep exploring other options until they got what they wanted. The third well that they dug, they did not have to fight for that one and so Isaac called the name of that one Rehoboth; for he said, now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
The main lesson that we can learn from the story of Isaac is to exhaust all options until God opens the door(s) for you; that is exactly what Isaac and his men did. He never simply just threw in the towel because obstacles presented itself, he kept looking for new options until he got the breakthrough. Because you are accustomed to encountering obstacles, it is easy to have the belief that one will always be there. But the only way you are going to find out that this is not true is by exploring all options.
The obstacles for Isaac were in the beginning, there was none the third time. Your third time is coming. The number 3 represents the trinity. Your third time will come when your circumstances are in alignment with His will. Until then your response should be to explore all options.
Life Application: Make a list of all available options to get to where you want. You might be tempted to rule out one or more as impossible, those may be the very doors that God works through. Literally, explore all available options once it does not break the laws of God.
Prayer: Lord, help me not to give up when I face obstacles. Help me to stand in the face of adversity and press on. They are options that are available for whatever issues I will face and I will explore them all. In Jesus name, amen.
