Doubt your Circumstances, Not the Word of God

Daily Devotional

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eats, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

If you have to doubt anything, doubt your circumstances, not the word of God.  Every time that we choose to doubt God’s words, we have taken a decision to go against the will of God and that will lead to dead circumstances.

Faith in God is doing what His word says even if our circumstance suggests that we do otherwise. The circumstance of the Children of Israel told them that there were giants in the land and so it was unwise for them to go there. They chose to believe that reality and doubted the word of God that he had given them about the land. By doubting God they sinned against God as they walked contrary to the word of God. The result of their action was that the generation that doubted God all died without walking in their promised land. In the past you may have treated doubting God as if it is okay, but the experience of the Children of Israel is a reminder of how dangerous it is. Faithlessness breaths sin and sin brings death into our circumstances.

Against this background, it should be recognized that the reason sin and death entered into the world was because Adam and Eve doubted the words of God. They allowed Satan to sow doubt into their minds when he told them, contrary to the word of God, that if they eat the fruit they shall not die, but shall become like the gods. So they stepped out of faith and walked into sin and thereby agreeing with Romans 14:23: whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Do not let anything allow you to doubt the word of God, not your circumstances, not anything else. Doubting God’s words is effectively creating a future that you do not want. To get to the future that he has promised your only real option is to put your faith in what his word says by making it the foundation of your decisions.

Life Application: Like never before, put your faith in the word of God by making them the foundation of your decisions.

Prayer: Lord, I choose to believe your word over my circumstances. I believe your word that says I’m healed even when there is pain in my body. I choose to believe that I’m walking in abundance even when there is lack. I choose to believe you over everything. In Jesus name, amen.
