Are You Meeting the Requirements To Attract the Blessing?

Daily Devotional

Deut. 28:1-2  … If thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee…

You cannot keep doing things your way and expect God to bless it.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 gives us the condition under which we attract the blessings of God. In summary it says that “if we obey God’s words then all these blessings shall come upon us and overtake us”. It should be noted that it never said if you do it your way then you will be blessed. That was never put as part of the equation.  The single requirement in the equation is obedience and you cannot get around it so quit trying to do it your way. The Israelite repeatedly made that mistake after the death of Moses and Joshua and only saw limited flow of God’s blessings during those times that they did.

God’s blessings should be seen as a harvest, to receive it you have to sow the seed of obedience. Attention should also be paid to the fact that each law attracts a different blessing. For instance the law of honouring thy father and thy mother attracts long life according to Exodus 20:12. If you obey the law of getting wisdom then the harvest is good discretion and favour according to Proverbs 2:11. Obedience to the law of honouring God with your money brings abundance based on Proverbs 3:9-10. Each law attracts a different harvest.

The mistake that you could be making is expecting God’s blessing in a particular area but you have not been obedient to the law to attract that blessing. It is with that in mind that you are reminded that you cannot keep doing it your way and expect God to bless it.  The real solution is to gravitate towards total obedience.

Life Application: Search the scripture to identify the laws associated with the blessings you want to attract and diligently observe to do them.

Prayer: Lord, I see the obedience of obeying your words. Help to walk in obedience to you words to receive your blessings that come with honouring your word. In Jesus name, amen.
