Isaiah 1: 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
The key to unlocking all good things that God has in store for you is in your obedience. Give it the importance that it deserves.
The people of Judah, lIke so many of us, wanted to reap everything that God had promised concerning them, but found themselves living in a state of disobedience. It was like wanting something but doing the complete opposite of what is required to get it. They needed to change their approach and so the prophet Isaiah imparted wisdom to them as it relates to the critical change that they needed to make in Isaiah 1:19 when he said “if ye are willing and obedient ye shall eat the good of the land.”
Take notice that in the verse Isaiah listed two prerequisites for reaping the harvest that God had promised. The first is to be “willing”: the only way you will get to the place where you are consistently obedient is to first have a mind that is predisposed to doing the word of God. If you have to be forced to, the chances of you doing it a second time is very slim. Nevertheless, a willingness to do something does not always translate to you doing it. It is for that reason Isaiah emphasized the second condition – obedience. What he was communicating to us was, do not stop at having willingness or a mind to do the word of God, carry it out. It is only when you meet both conditions that you can assure yourself that you will eat the good of the land. The use of the word “if” Is a reminder that being “willing and obedient” is a choice or decision that you must make. It will not just happen like that; you will have to choose that path amidst everything else that you have to get done. If you choose that path, it is then that you will reap the reward of eating the good of the land.
Life Application: Prepare your mind daily to obey his principles and instruction and then follow through.
Prayer: Lord, I choose to walk in obedience to your word and instruction in the name of Jesus, amen.
