Give God No Less Than He Deserves

Daily Devotional

Psalms 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Are you giving God what he really deserves?  Ascribe greatness to Him and live a lifestyle that mirrors the holy God that he is.

In Isaiah 6:3 as the angels worshipped God they declared that the whole earth is filled with His glory. The declaration by the angels is a reminder that any close observation of God’s  creative work during creation will reveal his greatness and glory. The fact that the earth is round and 70% of its surface covered with water yet none of that water is spilling elsewhere is a mystery and a revelation of his glory. The idea that it is day now in one portion of the earth and at the same time night in another area is too a reflection of the greatness of God. Indeed the whole earth is filled with His glory.

In light of how great our God is, how should we respond? Psalms 29:2 says “give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” The first response that the scripture points us to is that of giving glory to his name. Since God is great, we must give glory to Him who is glorious: giving God anything else would be a disservice. Give unto him the glory due to His name by ascribing greatness to him. The second part of the required response is to worship Him in the beauty of holiness. That means show forth his glory in your lifestyle by being a mirror of who He is. He is holy, so reflect holiness by living holy.

Life Application: Let whatever you say and do be a reflection of the glory of God.

Prayer: Lord, I place you above all else. You deserve all glory and honor and praise. May you be exalted in all the earth. In Jesus name, amen.
