John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The main ingredient to a successful life is abiding in the presence of the person of Jesus. That is the source of the wisdom, strength, power and everything else that you need to fulfill your destiny victoriously.

We often look with admiration at the early church given the many miracles that they wrought and the rapid growth that was seen among them. The unanswered question to this point; however, was what was the real secret behind their success? Yes it was true that they were constantly in prayer, preached the word of God, sold their possessions to help those who were in need and frequently had the Lord’s supper. Nevertheless, it is possible to do all these and still not have success as the main ingredient would be missing. The secret ingredient to their success was to abide in the presence of Jesus. All the above-mentioned activities of the early church would have been meaningless rituals without His presence and very little would have been accomplished.

Jesus made sure he taught His disciples this secret in John 15:1-10 by first reminding them that He is the vine or source of all that they would need. Having established that truth He repeatedly emphasized to them what was required: abide in me and let my words abide in you. To abide in Him is to dwell in His presence.  To put it simply, at any point that you are in His presence, you are in the person of Jesus and that is where He expects you to live. It will be the secret to your success.  When we are in Him we are able to draw from His strength, power and wisdom to become victorious. That was the secret ingredient of the early church: they lived in the presence of Jesus and thereby got revelations of the truth and then allowed that truth or word of God to abide in their heart.

Prayer and fasting are good, but unless you are abiding in the presence of Jesus, the results will be less than intended. Choose to live in His presence.

Life Application: Make it your top priority to position yourself in His presence daily.

Prayer: Lord, I want to live in your presence daily because it is you I live and breathe and have my very existence. Let me abide in you as your word abide in me. In Jesus name, amen.
