Command Your Mountains to Move

Daily Devotional

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

You do not need big faith to move your mountains, what you need is an absence of doubt.

After Jesus’s disciples failed to cast a demon out of the man’s son In Matthew 17,  who was acting as a lunatic and casting himself into fire, the man brought his son to Jesus for him to get the job done and He did. The disciples then asked Jesus how they could not cast out the demon. His response to them was that they failed because of their unbelief. He furthered  His dialogue with them and told them that if they had faith as small as a mustard seed they could say to the mountain be thou removed, and it shall be removed and nothing shall be impossible for them to do.

A mustard seed is very small, but firm. The message therefore behind Jesus’ conversation with his disciples was that if their faith was firm, with no unbelief, they would not only successfully command the mountains or obstacles faced to move but beyond that nothing will prove impossible for them to do. You may have thought in the past that your faith is not big enough to move an existing mountain in your life but utterances of Jesus suggest that this view is not true, what is required is for you to remove all doubt. In the attempt to command our mountains, a common mistake that we may make is that we do it for a couple of days and because it seems as if nothing is happening, we stop. That is not firm faith; your faith must remain strong whether or not things are going the way you want. The true measure of the firmness of your faith in God, is the extent to which you keep doing what His word says although things are  not going the way that you want. Keep believing and speaking to your mountains, they will move.

Life Application: Speak to your mountain daily and religiously apply the relevant biblical principles to the situation until the mountain completely disappears.

Prayer: Lord, help my unbelief. Give me faith to move mountains. In Jesus name, amen.
