Colossians 1:10-12 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all … 12 Giving thanks unto the Father…
Like any good father, God the Father wants you to be successful in all your endeavours. Learning how to do that by increasing in knowledge of His principles, operating in the power of the spirit and always giving God thanks.
Nobody I know wants failed endeavours whether it be in their careers, ministry or relationships: we all want success. Paul, who without a doubt had a successful ministry, put forward three keys to creating success in our efforts in Colossians 1:10-13. The first principle mentioned by Him was to increase in the knowledge of God. What the scripture is highlighting is that knowledge of the principles and laws of God is foundational to being fruitful for every good work; therefore, we must diligently pursue getting more of that knowledge. Failure could be the result of one undiscovered principle; therefore. grow in the knowledge of the word of God.
The second key point put forward by Paul was to be “strengthened with all might” that means to operate in the power of the Spirit. That was the secret sauce in the success of Jesus and the early church and it will prove to be important for you as well. Operate in the power of the spirit. Understand that some opposition that you may encounter in your efforts may be spiritual in nature. That means that any attempt to overcome your own strength will fail, but if you allow yourself to be strengthened by all of God’s might by remaining in His presence, you will have more than enough strength to produce the result that you want to see.
The final key point suggested is that of “giving thanks to the Father”. Things will not always go the way that you want, but you must celebrate and give God thanks for every progress made. Why that is important is because the seed for increase is thanksgiving. Do not be ungrateful or complain, give thanks. Ungratefulness and complaining typically manifest with you speaking death to that which you want to see.
The magnitude of success will be a function of the principles that you live by. You can create greater success by applying the principles of increasing your knowledge of the principles of God, being thankful to God and operating in the power of the spirit.
Life Applications: Maintain an attitude of gratitude while you increase the time spent daily delving in His word and live in His presence.
Prayer: Lord, help me to apply all the principles of your word. Thank you for being a good father to us. In Jesus name, amen.
