Use Your Prayers to Change the World

Daily Devotional

1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

It is possible for your prayers to change the world. To do that use part of your time of prayer to make supplication and intercession for all men, including those in authority.

Depending on all the items that are on your prayer list, it is possible that currently you may not be able to find time to pray for others; including your government and those that are in authority. Nevertheless, it is important to remind you that praying for others is important. 1 Timothy 2:1 in instructing us to pray for all men tells us that the reason it is vital to make intercession for all men is to maintain an environment of tranquility and godliness. What the scripture communicates is that making supplication for all men is critical to maintaining Godly order in your environment.

Rather than wait for chaos to permeate the environment and then pray for it to reverse, would it not be better to pray in advance against the work of the enemy being advanced through men in the earth?  But even if things have gone bad your prayers can go a long way to create change. When Hezekiah received threats from Sennacherib, King of Assyria, concerning his planned destruction of Israel, he and Isaiah interceded for Israel and God sent an angel to the camp of the Assyrians and killed all the mighty men. Being shame-faced,  Sennacherib King of Assyria went back home where he was slain by his own sons.

Be even more diligent than ever before to pray for different categories of men in your environment, including evil men. It might seem insignificant to you, but it could go a long way in derailing the plans of the enemy and advancing God’s agenda in the earth.

Life Application: Pay attention to what is happening around you and be vigilant to pray for God’s will to be done in the lives of men on the earth.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for this world and all those who are lost. I pray for your divine intervention in the evil happening in this world. May your will be done and your kingston established. In Jesus name, amen.
