1 Corinthians 10:1-2 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

The cloud represents the Spirit of God. Go beyond being born again and having a knowledge of what the Spirit of God can do. Choose to be led by the Spirit by staying at the place where you can be led by the Spirit of God.

In 1 Corinthians 10:1-2 Paul recounted the experience of the Children of Israel after they left Egypt. The first thing that Paul highlighted was that they were under the cloud. By saying that they were under the cloud Paul was alluding to the fact that the Spirit of God acted as a cloud for the Children of Israel by day and cloud of fire by night. What Paul meant by the statement was that they had first-hand knowledge of the importance of the Spirit of God. Beyond that he also mentioned that they were baptized in the cloud and the sea, to signify that figuratively they had the born again experience. The picture Paul was painting by these references was that despite having these experiences the Children of Israel went wayward because they did not choose to be led by the Spirit.

One of the purposes of the Spirit of God is to lead us into all truth; included in that is directing us into righteous living and right decisions. The fact that you have this knowledge and have been born again is not enough to stop you from going down the wrong path. You have to choose to be led by the Spirit. As was seen in the Old Testament, as long as the Children of Israel stayed under the cloud they had the benefit of protection from the elements with the cloud by day and direction for their paths evident by the cloud of fire by night. That is the help that you need to overcome the world around you; choose then to stay under the cloud by positioning yourself at the place where he can be found.

Life Application: Choose to be led by the Spirit by fervently seeking His direction.

Prayer: Lord, keep me under the cloud of your Spirit. In Jesus name, amen.
