Know That Your God is Bigger Than Your “that”

Daily Devotional

Isaiah 54:16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

Whatever the “that” is that you have to contend with, your God is bigger than “that”.  Put your faith in him totally and let him prove himself strong.

Isaiah 54:16 indicates two truths. The first is that it is he God that created the smith or maker of the weapons of war. Secondly, beyond that He is the source of wisdom that the maker of weapons use to make these instruments of destruction. The essence of the point God was making was that he was bigger than any enemy and the strategies that they devise for your pain. It is against that background that He then declared that no weapons formed against you shall prosper. Whatever devises the enemy has planned against you, God is bigger than that.

When Moses and Aaron threw down their rods in Pharaoh’s palace in Exodus 7:10 and it turned into a serpent, the wise men of Pharaoh did the same, but the serpent of Moses and Aaron swallowed up those of Pharaoh’s wise men. The message behind that was that God is bigger than that. Likewise, when the army of Syrians surrounded the city that Elisha was living in God showed that he was bigger than that by sending horses and chariots of fire to surround Elisha, which outnumbered that of the army of the Syrians. The same way that God showed that he was bigger than the circumstances that Moses, Aaron and Elisha faced; he will do the same for you if you put all your faith in him.

Life Application: Allow God to show up on your behalf by putting all your faith in Him.

Prayer: Lord, I rest in the knowledge that you are bigger than all my circumstances and that you are able to do exceeding abundantly all I could think or imagine. Therefore, I will not worry about anything because you are in control. In Jesus name, amen.
