Expect Good things to Happen Everyday

Daily Devotional

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Do not spend your days worrying if bad things are going to happen when the word of God says every good and perfect gift comes from above. Build your faith on that word and expect good things to happen.

Pastor Ana Sweet of the Wisdom Center recently recounted a conversation with her pastor where he said that God gives good gifts from above daily; you just have to be where it comes. It comes in the center of your divine assignment and it comes where there is obedience.  With that understanding it is no longer a matter of if good things will happen; it is more about being positioned to receive it. Beyond that there are two additional takeaways from James 1:17. Firstly, the gifts that God gives are both “good and perfect”; they always meet those two conditions. It is possible for you to receive a good gift but it is not the best thing for you. Because God only wants what is best for you, the gifts that he gives are good and best suited for your circumstances.

Secondly, since God gives good and perfect gifts from above daily, what should you live your days expecting? What God gives or what the enemy may throw at you? You will find it much more fruitful to expect to receive the good and perfect gifts that come from God every day. Rather than spend your days worrying about how things are going to work out, live every day with an expectation that good things are going to happen.

Life Application: Make it a practice to write down daily the good things that you expect to happen the following day.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for that is good that will happen in my life today and everyday. I position myself to receive every good gift that will come from you today. In Jesus name, amen.
