Deuteronomy 4:30-31  When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; 31 (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

One factor that will influence the length of time spent in your season of tribulation is how quickly you turn to the Lord by being obedient to His word. Create turnaround by turning to the Lord.

What should be your response in times of tribulation? Our typical response is to try to figure it out ourselves. We have seen several examples of that throughout the scriptures. One such was recorded in 2 Chronicles 16, when Baasha King of Israel was attacking Asa, King of Judah  (After the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two). King Asa’s response was to take the gold and the silver out of the treasurer of the House of God and give it to Benhadad, King of Syria to fight on his behalf. In response, God sent Hanani the prophet to admonish King Asa for choosing to rely on the King of Syria, when in the past He had given him victory over greater threat because he depended on Him.

The action of King Asa’s was a mirror of what the Children of Israel had done several times in the past when faced with seasons of difficulties even though Moses  had instructed them in Deuteronomy 4:30-31 that in times of trouble their response should be to turn to the Lord. In putting forward His position Moses highlighted 3 reasons why turning to the Lord would be their best option. First, God would not forsake them: He would act as a friend that never leaves them alone whatever the circumstances. Second, he would not destroy them: they could trust Him to seek their good and not their hurt. Last, God would not forget the covenant of promise he made with their fathers implying that he would work to fulfill every good promise that he had made to them.

During times of difficulties your best option to create a turnaround is to turn to the Lord by ensuring obedience to His word.

Life Application: Create turnaround by choosing to be obedient to the word of God

Prayer: Lord, I look to you to create a turnaround in my circumstances. Have your way. In Jesus name, amen.
