Psalm 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

You cannot live anyway that you please and consistently attract God’s help; that should be a lesson learnt from the Children of Israel.

If we ought to be honest with ourselves the only real source of help that we have is in God. Neighbors, friends or family members may offer help in times of trouble, but they are limited in what they can do. Furthermore, when you are most In need of help they may not be available for one reason or another. Having taken all these into consideration it is for this reason that the Psalmist said in Psalms 124:1 let Israel nor the people of God now say if it had not been for the Lord on  our side  when men rose up against us they would have swallowed us up quick. It is time for you and me to recognize that without God’s help we would have already been destroyed. His help has made the difference.

It is against this background that the Psalmist concluded in Psalms 124:8 that “our help is in the name of the Lord”.  The point being made by the Psalmist is that whatever form of help that you need, make it your point of duty to call on the name of the Lord, for he is your only real source of help. With that recognition position yourself at the place where you can attract his help. God being a present help in times of trouble is not automatic. It comes with you being obedient to His words and making him your refuge and strength by hiding yourself in him or dwelling in the secret place.

Since you cannot do without his Help, stay where his help flows naturally.

Life Application: Attract His help by practicing total  obedience and making the secret place your dwelling place.

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in complete obedience to you everyday. In Jesus name, amen.
