Psalms 113:1- 3 Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord….From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.
Never let it be the case that somebody else has to push you to praise the Lord. A recognition of the goodness of God should cause his praise to flow freely.
In today’s culture, it is typical to see people gloating on Social Media about a product or service that has exceeded their expectations. These reviews are unsolicited and are automatically provided because it is part of our nature to talk about good experiences to others. It is the same way that we should rave about the goodness of God.
God is too good not to tell of His goodness. Psalms 113 starts with a passionate plea by the psalmist for all servants of the Lord to praise the Lord. Thereafter, he highlighted several reasons why praising God is a must. The first is that his name is worthy of praise. Second, he suggested that God is high above or greater than anything or anyone in the heavens or in the earth. Third, he made it known that there is none who is worthy to be compared to him. The Psalmist highlighted these things to echo the sentiment that no one should have to prod us to praise God. In the same way that we find it easy to talk about when someone else has been good to us, it is in the same way that the goodness of God should propel us to sing the praises of God.
One reason we do not echo enough the praises of God is because we do not do a good enough job of keeping track of what He has done. As a result, His goodness goes by unrecognized and God does not get the praise that he deserves. Resolve to change that from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same His name is worthy to be praised.
Life Application: Take time out daily to journal what God has done and tell others of his goodness.
Prayer: Lord, you are good. You are merciful. You are great and mighty and I exalt. Be thou magnified in the earth. In Jesus name, amen.
