1 Kings 19:21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

Preparation precedes actualization: to get to where God is taking you requires you to prepare for it. Prepare by investing time into that area and pursue mentorship from someone who is a leader in that field.

As it relates to where God is taking you, are you waiting for it to develop or are you preparing yourself to operate in that sphere? If you are waiting for it to develop, it will not happen. God will provide opportunities for you to develop but you will have to take the initiative to prepare yourself for where he is taking you. God provided an opportunity for Esther to be trained to be the next queen but she had to take the initiative to seek and follow the counsel of the king’s chamberlain and that helped to set her apart. Elisha also had to take the initiative to prepare for where God was taking him.

When Elijah put his mantle on Elisha, he recognized immediately that his calling was to be a prophet. He did two things to prepare for where God was taking him. The first thing he did was to reposition himself in the field where God was taking him; he did this by slaying all the oxen that he was using to plow with and boiled them and gave it to the people to eat. What he was indicating was that he was finished with the line of work He was currently involved with. He redirected his focus and time towards his prophetic calling. The second thing that he did was to prepare by exposing himself to the mentorship of Elijah. The scripture said he went and ministered unto or served Elijah. Elisha increased his knowledge of operating in the prophetic by serving someone in his field that was at the top of his game. It worked well in his favor because in the end he carried a double portion of His anointing.

Wherever God is taking you will require preparation. The length of time it takes for you to operate that level is the amount of time it takes you to be fully prepared.

Life Application:  Invest adequate time towards where God is taking you while vigorously pursuing the right mentor.

Prayer: Lord, prepare me for where you are taking me. Allow me to identify the right people and opportunities that will help me grow in and through you. In Jesus name, amen.
