Galatians 5: 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Do not just make walking in the Spirit something that you talk about, get to the place where you actually do it by living in God’s presence and being totally dependent on His guidance for all matters whether big or small.

Paul encouraged the brethren in Galatians 5:16 to walk in the Spirit so that they would not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Failure comes when we fail to walk in the Spirit, therefore not walking in the Spirit is not a path that you should entertain. There are two components to walking in the Spirit. The first is to live constantly in His presence. It is only by staying close to God that you are positioned to get clear directives from the Holy Spirit. Live constantly in His presence  through a life of prayer and saturating the atmosphere around you with the sounds of worship.

The second component of walking in the Spirit is to totally depend on the Holy Spirit in all that you do. That is contrary to how most of us operate: our typical tendency is to only seek the help from the Holy Spirit for the “big things”; however, that was not what Paul meant when He instructed the church to walk in the Spirit.  What he meant when he said walk in Spirit was depend totally on the Holy Spirit by involving Him in all that we do, not just the big things. That can be done by staying in constant conversation with the Holy Spirit.  Start by turning your thoughts into conversations with God and asking His opinion on the major and minor things that you must do.

As a believer, it is critical that you walk in Spirit. When you do you are walking in truth, power, authority and wisdom, which ultimately means that you cannot fail.

Life Application: Involve the Holy Spirit in all your affairs by developing a close personal relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Lord, lead me by your spirit. I depend on you completely. In Jesus name, amen
