Be Willing to Pay the Price for Your Anointing

Daily Devotional

Matthew 3:3-4 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

All great men of the Bible have had to pay a price for their anointing. Be willing to pay your price.

Your anointing will cost you. Paul had to give up everything that was previously dear  to him. Moses twice went 40 days and night without food or water. Joshua never departed from the tabernacle or the presence of God. Daniel prayed 3 times a day and ate vegetables and drank water while he was training to serve the King. Elisha lived at a high place (Mount Carmel).

John too had to pay the price for his anointing. His calling was to be the forerunner of Jesus: he pointed people to the Messiah. Luke 1: 80 indicated that long before his ministry would have started he went to live in the wilderness. The headquarters for his ministry would have been there in the wilderness and so he went to live there to teach us that we must go to live where we have been called. Because he went to live in the wilderness, he did not have access to niceties that others would, he had no choice but to eat locusts and wild honey as his food and make his clothes out of Camel’s hair. Some may have looked at his bright prospects and concluded what a waste, but that was the price that he had to pay for his anointing and he was willing to pay it.

Whatever your anointing is, the only way that you can fully embrace it is if you are willing to pay the price. All the great men of the Bible had to pay their price; it will not be any different for you.

Life Application: Make up your mind to do what it takes to go where God has called you.

Prayer: Lord, I am available to you. I am willing to do whatever it takes to stay in your will and presence. In Jesus name, amen.
