10 Things That You Must Do Differently in 2022 – Part 5

Daily Devotional

In Part 4, you were reminded that your greatest success will come by doing what you do best. Therefore, increasingly reposition yourself towards the area of your greatest strength and what you are most passionate about.

# 5: Go Forward in the Strength of the Lord

Zechariah 4:6 – Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Do not pursue your goals, dreams or promise in your strength. That will result in you either making mistakes or finding yourself getting stuck. Choose instead to do it in the strength of the Lord.

In Zechariah 4, the prophet Zechariah saw a vision of a golden candlestick with seven (7) lamps. Not understanding the meaning he asked the angel who showed him these things what it meant. In response the angel answered and said it is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel saying, not by might, not by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord. At that time, Zerubbabel was the Governor of Judah and led the efforts for the rebuilding of the temple of the Lord. However, he had faced significant opposition which had caused the work on the temple to stall. The essence of what God was saying to Zerubbabel was: change your strategy; no longer try to do it with your own might or power, instead do it with the spirit or strength of the Lord. As he was instructed, Zerubbabel changed his strategy and what resulted was stated in verse 7: the mountain or obstacles that he faced became as a plain and he was able to finish the building of the temple which he had started.

What was the approach that you took in 2021 to fulfill your dream or what God has promised concerning your life? If you tried to do it in your own strength, like Zerubbabel you may have gotten stuck. For 2022 what you need is a new strategy: do what you do in the strength of the Lord. With that strategy you cannot fail since he is the almighty and all-powerful. The only reason the Israelites escaped Egypt; crossed the Red Sea; and saw the Jericho walls falling was because they did it in the strength of the Lord. Doing it in the strength of the Lord they had to fulfill two conditions. The first is that they had to carry his presence or Ark of the Covenant wherever they went. The second condition is that they only moved when the Cloud or the Spirit of God moved. You too must go forth in 2022 in the strength of the Lord by abiding in his presence and being led by his Spirit.

Life Application: Continuously entertain the presence of the Lord and Let your approach and strategy be informed by the Spirit of the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, help me to do all I do only through your strength. Help me to not lean on my understanding nor rely on my strength to accomplish that which you have ordained for me. In Jesus name, amen.
