Choosing to do what God says your only choice was explored in Part 7. The 3 blessings that the Bible promises with that choice in Psalms 112 are: generational greatness; wealth and riches; and, everlasting life.
# 8: Bring Excellence to Your Environment
Daniel 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Choose the type of person you want to be in 2022; is it going to be average or excellent? If you choose to be average you are choosing to be like everybody else and that will do little for you. On the other hand, if you choose to be excellent you will be more inclined to grab the attention of those you serve and schedule a promotion for yourself. Look at what happened when Joseph brought excellence into his environment; he had superior ability in interpreting dreams and as a result he was made the governor of Egypt. Also David’s excellence as a warrior allowed him to defeat Goliath and thereby he left a lasting memory in the mind of all those who saw and heard while giving him a permanent seat at the King’s table. Daniel too brought excellence in his environment. Daniel was one of three (3) presidents who were second in command to King Darius and had responsibility to supervise the 120 princes. Daniel 6:3 tells us that Daniel was preferred over the three (3) presidents because he was of an excellent spirit. Consider the fact that Daniel’s excellence caused him to be qualified for a promotion, while the other presidents and princes were not because comparatively they were average.
Excellence is not only a biblical concept, but it is also a principle used by companies, athletes, and professionals across the world who become leaders in their field. Examples include Apple, Amazon and Usain Bolt to name a few. What differentiates the excellent from the average is that the excellent choose to be excellent. Excellence starts with making the choice to be excellent. Additionally, there are two other attributes that are necessary to maintain a standard of excellence. The first requirement is to give your best to every situation. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. Doing things with your might is to give it your best. The second requirement is to focus on continuous improvement. Excellence is not static: yesterday’s excellence is today’s average. Luke 2:52 tells us that as Jesus grew up he grew in wisdom. Jesus never stayed at the same level, he became more excellent by growing in wisdom and it is the same that is required of you.
Life Application: Choose to be excellent. It will position you for promotion by allowing you to operate at a higher level than others in your field and leave for you a lasting memory in the minds of those you serve.
Prayer: Lord, help me to strive for excellence in all that I do. In Jesus name, amen.
