Truth Number 1:
You Have Access to All You Need to Take You to Your Next Level
Bible Verse
2 Kings 4:2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.
God is proactive, not reactive. Being both all-knowing and proactive he knew well in advance that you would be where you are today and has already made available the resources that you need to take you to your next level. It can be found either in your hand or in the hand of someone close to you.
Start by looking at what you already have at your disposal. Take note of Elisha’s response to the widow who told him about her plight in 2 Kings 4:2. She told Elisha that her husband, who was a prophet, had died and now the creditors had come to take her sons as slaves. If something was not done urgently the woman would not only lose her husband but her sons as well. Elisha’s response to her was interesting, he asked her what hast thou in thine house? The woman wanted more than she already had but Elisha pointed her to start with what she had in her house. To that she responded by saying “I have nothing but a pot of oil”. Elisha told her to borrow as many vessels as she could from her neighbours and shut the door behind her and pour the little oil that she had until all the vessels were full. When this was done she went and told Elisha and he told her to sell the oil and pay the creditors and live off the rest. Great things happened simply by her maximizing what she already had.
To change her difficult circumstance the woman was instructed to use things that were either already in her hand or in that of those close to her. It is clear from this that even before speaking to Elisha she had access to everything that she needed to take her to her next level. Although what she had seemed little and insignificant to her, once it was used the way God instructed, her situation was transformed.
You might be thinking today that what you have is not enough to make a meaningful difference. That is not true; you have access to all you need to take you to the next level. As was with the widow, what made the difference was not the amount but using what she had according to divine wisdom. Begin with a deep assessment of all the resources we have access to directly or indirectly. Thereafter, utilize these resources according to the word of God and watch your circumstances change.
Life Application:
Maximize what you already have at your disposal by doing an inventory of the resources that you or those closest to you have and ask God to show you how to maximize those resources to create the change you want.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for being the Alpha and the Omega. You know all things from the beginning to the end and as such nothing takes you by surprise. Thank you for the provision that you have already made for me. Help me to therefore access all that you have in store for me without fear. In Jesus’ name, amen.
