Recap: Truth #1
In Part 1, we highlighted the truth that you have access to everything you need to take you to your next level. That means stop telling yourself it “can’t be done or it is impossible.” Create the future God has planned for you by doing inventory of the skills, resources and people relationships that are in your hands and in the hands of those closest to you.
Truth # 2: You will not operate beyond the level that you see yourself
Numbers 13:30-31 Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Proverbs 23:7 says for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. The essence of the scripture is that the level at which you operate is limited by your thought or perspective of yourself. That implies that if you keep seeing yourself at your current level it will prove difficult for you to transition to the next level.
How do you see yourself? The majority of the Children of Israel had a flawed perspective of themselves and it kept them from possessing their Promised Land initially. After 12 spies returned from spying out the Promised Land they all agreed that it was a land of abundance as it floweth with milk and honey. The difference between the 10 spies and the other 2 related to how they saw themselves. Caleb and Joshua, saw themselves as being well able to possess the land although giants were there. Whereas the other 10 spies saw themselves as not being able to possess the land because the people of the land were stronger than they were. They went as far as referring to themselves as grasshoppers when compared to the people of the land, highlighting the flawed perspective they had of themselves. That thinking was the dominant perspective of the majority of the people of Israel at the time. As a result, they could not possess their land. How they saw themselves kept them from possessing what God had promised, giving credence to the view that you cannot operate beyond the level that you see yourself.
To get to your next level you must see yourself at that level. As long as you see yourself at your current level you will be hard pressed to rise above it. For instance, if you see yourself as poor, your thoughts, words and actions will align with that. It is easy to see that by maintaining the thinking and habits of the poor that will keep you poor. To create a shift to abundance, you must first visualize yourself as having abundance. Thereafter real change will come when your thoughts, words and actions are consistent with the abundance mindset.
Train your mind to see yourself based on the future you are creating and model Godly habits of those who have already gotten to where you are heading to.
Lord, let me see myself through your eyes. Rebuke every negative thought that I have of myself and help me to walk in your word. You have declared in your word that I above and not beneath. That I will lend and not borrow. That I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I will therefore change my perspective to align with yours. In Jesus name, amen.
