Bible Verse:

Daniel 10:12-13 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days:

Luke 18:1 says men ought always to pray, and not to faint. If you are not seeing the result that you want to see within the timetable that you set, you may feel the need to quit praying, but be reminded that it is in persisting that you see results. Hannah would not have given birth to Samuel if she had quit praying. Nor would Rebecca have given birth to Esau and Jacob if Isaac had quit praying for his wife to give birth. It was not the same time that they started praying that they got the answer. Sometimes it is necessary for you to persist in prayer.

Daniel persisted in prayer and fasting for twenty one days until he got an answer to his prayer. The scripture tells us in Daniel 10:12-13 that from the first day that he started to seek God about the matter, his prayer was heard and God sent the answer. However, the angel who was carrying the answer was hindered by a force of darkness for 21 days. After 10 days Daniel could have chosen to quit praying, but instead he stayed in prayer and fasting. Twenty days came and went and still nothing, but that did not stop him from going after it on  the 21st day and it was on that day that the answer arrived. The mindset that Daniel took to prayer was that he would not stop praying until he got the answer he was waiting for. That was his prayer focus so he kept praying for the same thing for 21 days until he got results.

Whatever you are praying and asking God to do in your life, you are going to need to take on the same mindset as Daniel. If you are praying according to the will of God, the assurance you have is that he has heard your prayer and he will do it according to 1 John 5:14. Therefore, persist in prayer until you get the answer to your prayer.

Life Application

While ensuring that you are praying always in the Spirit, keep praying for what you want to see every day until you see results.

Prayer:

Lord, sometimes it’s so easy for me to give up and get frustrated. But, you have shown in your word and actions that you answer prayers. I choose to believe your word and will persist in prayer until the answer comes. In Jesus name, amen.
