Recap: The Life of John Maxwell

The great Christian man that was featured last was John Maxwell. The biblical principle that stood out in his life was his quest to constantly grow his knowledge. That propelled him to write 100 books and sell over 20 million copies worldwide.

Bible Verse

Genesis 37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

Keep Reaching for the Dream that God Gave You – Peter J Daniel

A dream is only dead if you stop reaching. Keep reaching for the dream that God gave you.

Peter J Daniel accomplished his impossible dream because he kept reaching. He received Jesus at age 26 at a Billy Graham Crusade in Australia. In his view it was then that his life started to change. He recalled that God gave him two big dreams; one of the dreams was to see how much money one human could give away in his lifetime. The problem is that he was starting the pursuit of the dream from a disadvantaged position. At the age of 26 he was an illiterate bricklayer who was broke. Additionally, his family background left much to be desired as many of his relatives had gone to jail and there was heavy dependence on government welfare programs. Nevertheless, he took action towards the dream by learning to read and thereafter reading 2,000 biographies. He also broadened his knowledge in other disciplines to include philosophy and law before going into business. When he went into business he failed 3 times, losing all that was invested. Before going into business the third time, his wife told him to just get a regular job as she did not see any return from all the books he had bought. That did not push him to stop after failing the third time. Instead he reached for his dream a fourth time and successfully built a large real estate business which has made him a billionaire. This enabled him to fulfill the big dream that God gave him, which was to see how much money he could give away.

What is the dream that God has put in you? Regardless of how the situation may look, keep reaching for the dream. Peter J Daniel did that even though it seemed that the dream was unattainable. Joseph’s dream of becoming a ruler also seemed impossible given that he was a slave and prisoner in a foreign country. Notwithstanding, he reached for the dream by making the best of the current situation. He did this in 3 ways: staying obedient to the word of God; seizing the opportunities to develop his leadership ability; and, raising his gift of interpreting dreams to the highest level of excellence. As a result, his dream that seemed dead became his reality.

Life Application:

Reach for the dream that God gave you by staying obedient to the word of God, expanding your knowledge in the field you are in and using that knowledge to improve your skills to achieve the highest level of excellence.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to never give up on what you have purposed for me, no matter how hard it gets. In Jesus Name, amen.
