Whose Voice Matters The Most?

Daily Devotional

Bible Verse:

St John 10:25-27 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

On any given day there will be many voices that you may be hearing, the one that you choose to honour is the one that really matters. Make the voice of God the voice that really matters for you, that is how you will create change. During creation it was the voice of God that initiated the change and transformation that ensued. It was also the voice of God that propelled the salvation of Noah and his family from the flood waters that came. Likewise, it was the voice of God that brought back Lazarus and Tabitha from the dead. David’s countless victories over his enemies could also be attributed to him putting himself in the position where he could hear and honour the voice of God when going into battle.

Believe and Honour the voice of God. In St John 10:25 some of the Jews came to Jesus and said to him that he should not keep them in suspense any longer, instead he should tell them plainly if he is the promised Messiah. Jesus’s response to them was that he had already told them that he was the Messiah but they did not believe him. Based on the recount of Jesus, the Jews heard His voice but remained the same because they refused to believe the words of Jesus. They chose instead to believe whatever they wanted. What that tells us is that for the voice of God to create change in our lives it must be believed. The voice of God created an impact in the life of Noah and David because they chose to believe what God had said. Jesus continued his response to the Jews by stating that those who choose to hear and believe His voice are His sheep. It is they he said that will receive eternal life or the promise of the Father.

Choosing to make the voice of God what really matters is choosing to create change in your own life.

Life Application:

Make the voice of God matter for you by believing and acting upon not only his written words, but also his spoken words.

Lord, in a world where there are so many competing voices, let me choose yours. I choose to listen to your voice even when it is deemed unpopular. I choose to follow your instructions even when others aren’t. In Jesus name, amen.
