7 Ways to Attract Favour In Your Life

Daily Devotional

There was nothing that Joseph did that made him deserving of the position of Governor of Egypt. Favour with God and Pharaoh got him there. Similarly, it was favour that gave Esther the edge over the other women who were vying for the position of queen. You need the favour of God and men to get to your intended destination. Favour is receiving more than you deserve. If all you are getting is what you deserve you will be stuck at the same level much longer than you want. Given the importance of favour, in this series, we will. look at the top 7 ways to attract the favour of God and men into your life

# 7: Ask for the Favour You Want

Bible Verse:

Psalm 119:58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

Have you ever asked for something that you really wanted thinking that the chance of you getting it is slim, but you got it nonetheless? Asking for favour is one key that you can use to unlock favour into your life.

The Psalmist David asked God for favour, he too recognizes its importance. He said I entreat thy favour with my whole heart. Because he saw the importance of favour he asked God for favour with his whole heart. He never made it a casual request. Ruth needed the favour of Boaz, one of the approaches that she took to attract that favour is to ask for it. In speaking with Boaz She said in Ruth 2:13 “let me find favour in thy sight”.  In response Boaz invited her to eat with him and the other reapers at mealtime. He also served her parched corn until she was full. Since she worked for him, she should have been the one serving him, but here was Boaz serving her. Ruth asked for favour and favour was granted.

Position yourself at the place where when you ask for favour, it will be granted. Not everyone could have asked God to show them His glory and get a favourable response. The favour was granted to Moses because he had built significant social capital with God. He did this by consistently following God’s instruction and spending a lot of time in God’s presence. The favour that was granted to Ruth when she asked was a function of social equity that she had unknowingly built as a result of her decision to stick with her mother in law, Naomi. Not many people would have done what she did in choosing to stay beside her mother-in-law.

You are in a better position to receive the favour you ask for by first maintaining integrity with God and men.

Life Application:

Become more effective in asking and receiving the favour you want from God through obedience and abiding in His presence. As it relates to men, position yourself to receive favour by maintaining good relationships with people at all levels and seek first to understand their perspective before seeking to be understood.

Lord, thank you for your favour with you and those you have placed in my life for a particular purpose. I thank you in advance for the manifestation of what you have given me through your divine will and favour. In Jesus’ name, amen.
