7 Ways to Attract Favour in Your Life

Daily Devotional

Recap: #6 Build and Protect Your Good Name

One of the 7 ways to attract favour that we discussed the last time was practicing true servant-hood. In Ruth 2, as a true servant, Ruth gave the assignment her best effort even though she was unaware of what she would be paid. Ruth acted in this way because pleasing her master (Boaz) was more important to her than the monetary reward. You need a similar mindset to practice true servant-hood.

Bible Verse:

Proverbs 11:27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

# 4 Display Excellence in all Your Endeavors

In any environment where excellence is displayed, there is a flow of favour towards the person who did it. Daniel was favoured by King Darius in Daniel 3 because he was of an excellent spirit; as a result, he intended to make him second in command under him by making him head over the 3 presidents and 120 princes. David was favoured by all Israel and King Saul because of the excellence he displayed as a fighter in slaying Goliath. Pharaoh favoured Joseph because of his excellence as an interpreter of dream. Whenever excellence is present, it will always give birth to favour.

Proverbs 11:27 says he that diligently seeketh good procureth favour. What the scripture was saying is that we will attract a continuous flow of favour if we pursue our good endeavours (ministry, business, job, marriage etc.) with excellence. The implication then is that even if you are starting from a place where you do not have a good name or your reputation has been tarnished, favour can return to the situation by you choosing to do everything with excellence. The evidence that this is true is in the story of Joseph; his excellence caused Pharaoh to totally overlook the fact that he was a slave, prisoner and not a native of Egypt. The lesson to be learnt from Joseph is that by choosing to do everything with excellence you can restore favour in areas where favour has been lost.

Life Application:

Excellence is important to maintain and grow favour so make a conscious decision to do everything with excellence.

Prayer:

Lord, whatever you do, you do with excellence. Give me an excellent spirit. Lord let me operate in excellence in every aspect of my life. In Jesus name, amen.
