Recap: #2 Increase Your Wisdom and Understanding
One way to attract favor that was last discussed was that of increasing your wisdom and understanding. The presence of wisdom will give you favor with both God and men. Three fruits of wisdom and good understanding are: i) speaking the right words which is important to maintaining favor with men; ii) making right decisions; that will draw the favor of both God and men; and, iii) offering superior solutions to problems that exist in your environment. Invest time to grow your wisdom.
Bible Verse:
Proverbs 12:2 A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
# 1: Be More Consistent to Do What the Word of God Says
The greatest flow of favor into your life will come from doing what the word of God says. Mary had the distinction of mothering the son of God. What would have contributed to her being attributed this great favor? She practiced doing what the word of God said. It was for that reason why the angel said unto her in Luke 1:28 thou art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. From what we know of God in order to be recognized as highly favored of God and blessed among women would have to be the result of great obedience.
The favor ascribed to Mary was because she made it a habit to do what the word of God says. Abraham is also a good example of a bible character who did what God says and as a result was able to attract great favor. Throughout scripture there was not a single directive that God gave Abraham that he did not quickly obey and because of his uncommon obedience, Abraham was the one chosen by God that through his seed all nations of the earth would receive salvation. That was a great honor. Doing what the word of God says is what attracts uncommon favor in your life.
Doing what God says qualifies you for a perpetual flow of favor. That is evident from Proverbs 12:2 which says a good man obtaineth favor of the Lord. A good man in this context is one who is righteous, who consistently does what God says. It is that man the scripture is saying that will be the continuous recipient of the favor of the Lord. That is important to note because for some of us our only interest in the favor of God is to manifest the dream. As long as that is our thinking we will be unwilling to do what is required to attract His favor continuously in our life. Joseph did not become the second in command in Egypt by trying to obtain the favor of God only for the event of the fulfillment of his dream of becoming a ruler. He became the governor of Egypt by positioning himself to be a continuous recipient of the favor of God by consistently doing what God says.
Life Application
Choose to attract God’s favor continuously by being more consistent in doing what his word says.
Prayer:
Lord, thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against you. I will uphold your word and do what it commands. May I see the wisdom in being consistent in following your word. In Jesus name, amen.
