Bible Verse:
Joshua 4:19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
Not seeing what God had promised in the timeframe you set, does not mean that it is not going to happen. Trust God to do it in His time by continually doing what His word says.
The Children of Israel got to their Promised Land in God’s perfect timing, not at the time they appointed. Joshua 4:7 tells that the people of Israel came out of the Jordan river on the tenth day of the first month. What the scripture is communicating is that the Israelites stepped out of their wilderness situation into the land of promise on the tenth day. Notably, it was not on the 11th day or 25th day that they finally reached their land of promise. Why is this important? Because the number ten (10), like the number seven (7) represents perfection. So God deliberately allowed the Children of Israel to reach their promised land on the 10th day to teach all future generations including us, that what he has promised will come in His perfect timing.
The idea of waiting for God’s perfect timing may not seem like an attractive proposition to you because most of us want everything now. In addition, what makes it more uncomfortable is the lack of advanced knowledge of the exact day and time that God intends to do His thing. Most certainly it was uncomfortable for Abraham to wait another 10 years after God promised that Sarah his wife would have a son, but it was God’s perfect timing. The wait was long, but Abraham never resorted to murmuring or complaining. Instead his chosen response was to trust God to do what he promised in His time. The proof that he trusted God was that he consistently did whatever God said.
Take a leaf out of Abraham’s book and trust God to do what he has promised by doing what he says. Like a farmer who plants seeds without knowing the exact time the harvest will come, doing what God says is your seed, you may not know when the harvest will come; but wherever a seed is sown there will be a harvest. Keep sowing the word of God; you will reap what he has promised.
Life Application:
Trust God to bring you what he has promised in His time by being consistent in doing what His word says.
Prayer:
Lord, I trust your timing. Help me to rest in the fact that you always have my best interest at heart. Therefore, even when it seems to be taking long, in my view, I trust you and your timing. In Jesus name, amen.
