Joshua 11: 18 & 23 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
Do not get disheartened by repeated opposition, it is what qualifies you to receive what God has promised. Isaac’s servants faced opposition at the first 2 of the 3 wells they dug and Moses was told no by Pharaoh at least 9 times before he let the people go.
After a grueling battle with the 5 Kings of the Amorites, it would have been expected that the Children of Israel would have been given a break. But as soon as that battle ended they had to start fighting another. Jabin, the King Hazor, having seen the victory of the Children of Israel over the Amorites decided to mobilize other neighboring kings to go out and fight against Israel. Their combined armies were so large that the scripture said the hosts were like the sand on the sea shore.
The opposition that they had to confront was greater than the battle against the 5 Kings of the Amorites but it did not mean that result would be any different. The word of the Lord to Joshua was not to be fearful because by tomorrow he will deliver their enemies into their hands. If you keep the faith, you will overcome whatever repeated opposition you face.
Don’t gripe about the opposition, overcoming is what qualifies you to possess your promise. Right now it may seem like you cannot get a break, battles after battles and opposition on every side. Take note that each battle that the Children of Israel fought and won, resulted in them possessing new territory. The opposition only ended when they possessed all the land that God had purposed for them during that season. It was only then that they got rest from the wars. Repeated opposition is proof that what God wants to give to you is more than you currently have.
Equip yourselves for repeated opposition by growing your faith and acquiring an in-depth knowledge of the word of God.
Lord, it’s so easy to get discouraged during the most difficult times of my life. There are times when I feel like you are not with me as I deal with life’s challenges. But, repeatedly you have shown through your actions that you are with me always. Remind me of all you have done during those moments of fear. In Jesus’ name, amen.
