Bible Verse:

Joshua 18:3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

What God has promised to you is yours; being negligent to possess it is like handing your inheritance over to an enemy.

The land of Canaan was promised to the Children of Israel as an inheritance. However, even after several years of occupying Canaan only 5 of the 12 tribes had possessed the land that the Lord had given them. That was unacceptable to Joshua and so he raised the issue and asked them the question in Joshua 18:3: How long are ye slack to go to possess the land. What Joshua was saying to them was, the land is yours what is stopping you from going to possess it. Because God had already given them the land, the only person that could stop them was themselves.

What are the promises that God has made concerning your life that you are stopping yourself from possessing? You may stop yourself in many ways, which include: self defeating thoughts, procrastination or complacency. Remind yourself today that what God has promised you is yours. Therefore, nothing is stopping you from taking possession of it, but you.

Those lands that the Children of Israel did not possess were left in the hand of the enemy, for their children and children’s children to benefit from. Therefore, choosing not to take possession of what God has promised you should never be an option because choosing to do so is synonymous with leaving your inheritance in the hand of another.

The main lesson to be learnt is that you must be relentless in taking possession of all that God has given to you.

Life Application:

Remind yourself of all the promises that God has made concerning your life and plan and strategize the action to be taken to possess each.

Prayer:

Lord, thanks for your promises over my life. I declare that I will inherit and possess all that you have in store for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
