Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
God’s recipe for good success is to use the word of God. When used as a weapon, it will create victory in whatever circumstances that you might face.
In Joshua 1:8 there were three (3) ways that God told Joshua to use the word of God to create victory. The first is that the book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. That means keep speaking the word of God into your circumstances. When Jesus was tempted by the Devil 3 times, his response to each temptation was to speak the word and by doing so he claimed victory.
The second way that God instructed Joshua to use the word of God was to “meditate therein day and night”. David exemplified this in Psalms 119:11 when he said thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. David had victory over his fleshy side by memorizing and meditating on the word of God. By doing so he ensured that his beliefs were aligned to the word of God and as it turned out, what he believed was what he ended up doing.
The third way in which Joshua was directed to use the word of God was to practice total obedience to the word. The scripture said “observe to do them”. The practice of obedience to the word of God made Abraham great and was the key used by Moses to lead the people out of Egypt. It would also be the secret ingredient to Joshua’s victory at both Jordan and Jericho.
The word of God is a powerful weapon, when used as directed it will always bring results.
Create victory by speaking the word into your circumstances; memorizing and meditating upon the word of God; and do what the word of God says.
Lord, thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Keep me grounded in your word all the days of my life. In Jesus name, amen.
