Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Speaking things and seeing them happen was an art that Jesus mastered. He spoke peace to the wind and the waves in Mark 4:39 and they obeyed him; he also cursed the fig tree in Mark 11:14 because it had no fruit and it withered up. Peter marveled at the latter occurrence and Jesus used it as a teachable moment to reveal to his disciples the secret to speaking things into being. He told them to believe whatever things they say and not doubt and it will happen.
Believing and not doubting is the secret to speaking things and seeing them come to pass. That simply means we must overcome doubt because a struggle with doubt will hinder us from speaking things into being. Once we overcome doubt then we can speak to things greater than fig trees and see them respond. Jesus said “whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea… those things which he saith shall come to pass.
There are two steps we can take to overcome doubt. The first is to ask God to increase our faith. In Mark 9:24 the man asked Jesus to “help his unbelief”. His son had been demon possessed since he was a child and he doubted if even Jesus could do something about it. The second step that can be taken to eliminate doubt is to repeatedly declare out loud what you want to see. Romans 10:17 says “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Repeatedly hearing what you have spoken will increase your faith that it will happen.
However, the caveat given to us by the scripture is that what we should choose to repeatedly hear is the word of God. The implication of this verse is that the most effective way to speak things and see them come to pass is to declare only the word of God. Do not just speak whatever comes to your mind or whatever you feel like saying and expect it to happen, instead speak the will of God. In some cases you may not see instant results but as you keep repeating the word of God to yourself you will starve your doubts while increasing your faith and that which you have spoken will come to pass.
Repeatedly declare to yourself the promises and purposes of God concerning your life and expect them to come to pass.
Lord, I know my tongue is a weapon that can create good or bad circumstances in my life. I choose therefore to use my words to declare your goodness and promises over my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
