Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
How many times have we said that God is my provider, but then turn around and wonder where the provision is going to come from? Why do we do that, when if we look back over the course of our lives, he has always come through. Why would this time be any different? The reason Abraham could tell Isaac on Mount Moriah that the Lord will provide, even though he did not know where the provision would come from, is because his personal history has shown God to be a provider. In that situation that he faced why should he have expected God to do anything different? As difficult as your current situation might be, in no way does it diminish God’s ability to provide. Therefore, expect God to provide.
You know that you expect God to provide when worry disappears. The antidote for worry is to trust God. Jesus instructed his disciples in Matthew 6:25 not to worry, he said take no thought for life. That means He does not expect us to worry at all. The primary reason that Jesus posited to his disciples that they should not worry is because God has consistently provided for the fowls of the air, the lilies of the field and all creation. What Jesus was saying was: In the same way that God has provided for all creation over centuries, you can trust God to do the same for you now. The point being made is that even looking beyond your personal experience of God providing, look also at the fact that God has consistently provided for the birds of the air and lilies of the field, that are less valuable than you, will he then not do the same for you? He is faithful.
With the rise in food and fuel prices and the world economy trying to recover from the pandemic, your current circumstances may be challenging and you might be inclined to worry. But rather than worry, trust God to provide. He is able.
Trust God to provide in your current circumstance by reminding yourself that he has always done it in the past. No need to wonder, he will do it now.
Lord, I know you are my provider because you have done it over and over again. I pray for all those who are going through a difficult time financially. Show up in their various situations and supply their needs according to your riches in glory. In Jesus name, amen.
