Remove Yourself From The Company of Doubters

Daily Devotional

Mark 5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

Miracles rarely happen in an environment where doubt prevails. The proof of that is in Matthew 13:58 where Jesus did not do many miracles in His own country (Nazareth) because of their unbelief. The circumstance meant that some people who should have received their miracle, did not because there was doubt.  In the same way that Jesus did not do many miracles in the place of doubt, you too will be challenged to realize your full potential in such an environment. Therefore choose to remove yourself from the company of people who doubt the dream, purpose and promise that God has placed in you. One of the reasons God allowed Joseph to leave the environment where His brothers dwelled was because they doubted his dreams and so were more inclined to kill the dream than to support its fulfilment.

Surround yourself with people who believe in what God has placed in you. Those are the people who will help you give birth to your miracle. When Jairus’ daughter was dead, Jesus decided to only take Peter, James and John, who were the persons who believed in Him the most, to the location. No one else was permitted to come along. Further to that when he got to the place where Jairus’ daughter lay dead there were doubters there. The doubters revealed themselves when He said the “damsel is not dead but sleepeth’; they laughed him to scorn. Jesus responded by shutting them out. He only allowed Peter, James, John and the mother and father of the child to enter the room where the child was and she rose from the dead.

Protect the dream, promise and purpose that God has placed in you by deliberating choosing to shut out doubters and surrounding yourself with those who believe in the work God is doing in you.

Life Application:  To give birth to what God placed in you follow the two pronged approach taken by Jesus: First, surround yourself with people who believe in you and support you through thick and thin. Secondly, constantly shut out the doubters as they will hinder your efforts.

Prayer: Lord, surround me with people who will help to push me into my purpose. Remove those who doubt that which you have laid on me and help me to not doubt your word. In Jesus name, amen.
