Matthew 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
It could be that the only thing standing between you and the promises of God concerning your life is a strong man: demonic forces that control and exert influence over specific areas of our lives in the form of strongholds. Based on 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 strongholds are established and maintained through thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to word of God. Examples of strongholds include depression, suicidal thoughts, poverty, anger, fear, anxiety, lust and sexual immorality. These strongholds if allowed to remain will limit the flow of God’s blessings into your life and keep you from your promise and purpose. If you can identify any strongholds that are operating in your life, now is the time to pull them down.
There are 3 steps that you can take to dismantle strongholds. The first is to identify the prevailing strongholds that are operating in your life. To Identify them you have to stay alert as 1 Peter 5:8 instructs: pay close attention to your thoughts and actions. Additionally, take stock of the areas where you struggle spiritually or physically. The second step is to use the sword of spirit, which is the word of God mentioned in Ephesians 6:17. Do so by making a list of scriptures that run contrary to the thoughts that you need to break and memorize one per day. Thereafter, keep meditating on them and it is only a matter of time that every ungodly thought pattern will be broken. The third step was recorded in Ephesians 6:18, it says “pray always in the spirit.” That can be achieved by praying daily for the stronghold to be broken while being positioned in the presence of God.
Don’t stay bound when God wants you to be free. Break the control of any strongman over your life by dismantling the root of their operation by pulling down thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to the word of God.
Life Application: Bind the strong man and break strongholds by identifying them, memorizing and meditating upon scriptures and praying always in the spirit.
Prayer: Lord, bind every stronghold over my life. In Jesus name, amen.
