Romans 12:1 beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Make up your mind to give God your all every day, withholding nothing. God has been too good for us to give him anything less. That was the essence of the point that Paul was making in Romans 12:1 when he said “I beseech you therefore by the mercies of God”. What he was saying to us was I beg of you brethren, in light of God’s goodness and mercy towards us that you give Him all of you as a living sacrifice. Paul was not challenging us to do something that he himself was not doing. He said in 1 Corinthians 15:31 “I die daily”: that means he gave God his all every day. Choose to live your life in like manner.
In Romans 12:1 Paul identified 3 ways in which we should give our all. The first is to give God your all by presenting your body as a living sacrifice. Another way of saying that is to give God your all by staying on the altar of sacrifice; that means living a lifestyle of total surrender. Whenever you come off the altar, you are being guided by your flesh rather than the spirit of God. It is not possible to give God your all doing that.
The second way to give God your all is to be “holy”. Holiness is the product of doing what the word of God says. A failure to live by the word of God is the result of withholding something or an area of your life from God.
The final way to give God your all is to live a lifestyle that is acceptable to God. Practically, that requires you to give God your best all the time and not just go through the motion, which we are sometimes guilty of doing. Live a lifestyle that is acceptable to God by giving him your best.
Imagine what your life would be like if you gave God your all every day. Continually feeling God close, operating in great power and authority and having in depth revelation into the word of God are only a few of the experiences that you would have.
Life Application: Give God your all, without withholding anything by practicing total surrender, doing what his word says and always giving Him your best.
Prayer: Lord, I present my body as a living sacrifice to you.I commit my all to you, mind, body and soul. In Jesus name, amen.
