Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
What is the promise that God has made concerning your life? The approach that some have taken to realize what God has promised is to wait for the conditions to be perfect to then pursue after it, while others make the mistake of thinking that it will be handed to them on a platter. If we take any of these two approaches the promise may never happen. The attitude that will bring results was stated by Jesus in Matthew 11:12: take what God has promised by force.
When the scripture said in Isaiah 9:7 that “of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end”, it was a promise that the Kingdom of Heaven would be established on the earth through the coming of Jesus Christ. So it was within that context that Jesus said “from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence”. What Jesus was saying was that now that the days have drawn nigh for the promised Kingdom of Heaven to be revealed in the earth, it suffereth violence or is under sustained attack. The devil and his angels were doing everything possible to prevent the promise of God from becoming the reality of all mankind. It will not be any different as it relates to the promise God has made concerning your life. In light of the attacks that were levied against the promised Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus therefore gave clear indication how those who would receive it were going to get it: “the violent will take it by force”. It can be gleaned by Jesus’ conclusion that the promise will come not to those who wait for it to come to them, but rather to those who will get aggressive and be willing to take it by force.
The promise of God concerning your life is your rightful possession, why then should you not possess what is rightfully yours? You will have it if you get aggressive and resolve to take it by all means necessary.
Life Application: Make the promise of God concerning your life your goal and then take aggressive action to possess it, despite whatever opposition lies before you.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your promises concerning my life. I resolve to access that which you have promised by force and walk in my promises. In Jesus name, amen.
